Uzbekistan has a well-developed transportation system. An extensive network of buses serves country areas while good Soviet-style systems of trolley buses and trolleys operate in the major cities. Road and rail networks have, however, deteriorated since 1991, and are concentrated in the south and east. The national airline, the Uzbek Khavo Yullan (Uzbekistan Airways), is operated by a Pakistani company.
